Abstract submission

We welcome oral and poster presentations. Abstracts for papers or posters addressing one or more of the six sessions can be submitted until the 15th of May 2020. Acceptance notifications will be sent by the 15th of June 2020

To submit, please download the form (pdf) available in the link: abstract form.

Workshop language is English. Abstracts should be of max. 250 words. In case of multiple authors, please add an asterisk (*) after the name of the corresponding author.

If you would like to give more than one contribution, please submit one abstarct form for each contribution.

Sessions

  • Session 1: Phytolith morphology, nomenclature, taxonomy and morphometry
  • Session 2: Phytoliths as a proxy for palaeoenvironmental reconstruction
  • Session 3: Phytoliths in integrated archaeobotanical and ethnoarchaeological studies
  • Session 4: Phytoliths in geoarchaeology and soil micromorphology
  • Session 5: Phytolith formation, quantification and role in modern plants
  • Session 6: Phytoliths and the biogeochemical cycles of silicon and carbon 
  • Microscopy session: Phytoliths in soil thin sections

Talks and posters 

Indicatively, the oral presentations may last max. 15 minutes (incl. discussion). Key-note presentations may last 30 minutes (incl. discussion).

For posters, only portait format is allowed for a maximal size within din A0 (width 841 mm x height 1189 mm / width 33.1 x height 46.8 in). 

If there are too many applications, the organisers reserve the right to suggest a change from required talks to posters.
